Let customers speak for us
from 227 reviewsThis is a great course - I had no experience of knitting and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Trudi was very helpful and patient. The wool on the Exe is a great place. Thank you so much! I am now starting my first knitting project!
Poor Sam! One afternoon she stoically coaxed me through the pattern for the shawl. I have to say, as an ex teacher, I am a lousy student… but with her patience I got my head round what I needed to do. I feel like I frogged more than I crocheted for the first few rows (yes, I am aware that’s impossible!), but I got to the end of the shawl at home, with an even number of stitches on both sides! Thanks Sam, and the Woolie Team. Evidence attached.
I saw these beautiful works of art at the London Stitch Festival. The beautiful yarns just jumped out at me from the circular designs on the white display boards. I decided to buy the Peach blossom pattern and stated it almost immediately. A fantastic project for using your prescious stashed yarn! Loved every moment.
A lovely yarn, very soft, and excellent stitch definition
I got two jumper quantities of Exmoor a while back, I’ve used Whortleberry to knit up a Hinterm Stein cardigan which I am wearing to death. It’s a great sturdy yarn with beautiful stitch definition. It was a great deal when I got it, but now, on sale, it’s an absolute steal.
I took this course at the end of June. Debbie was a fantastic instructor. It was a complicated and challenging project but well worth it in the end. I actually managed to finish the headband by the end of the afternoon! I took it home and blocked it and then wove all the ends in. I was very pleased with the result. I have taken a number of courses at Wool on the Exe. They have all been rewarding and I have grown in confidence with every one of them thanks to such great instruction.
Took this course this morning. It was great fun. The teacher, Laura, explained what we were going to do, helped when we went a little astray. She also explained why it had gone awry. She was thorough but made it fun too. It was extremely hard to believe that it was her first time teaching needle punching.
Thank you to both Laura and Debbie for organising it. Hoping you’ll do it again 😀
Just did this course this afternoon. Ginny is an amazing teacher and so patient too… especially when I couldn’t get my decoration to stick to my pot. Ginny teaches us how to layer fibre and to then wet felt it adding decorative additions , this is a practice piece. You then move on to making a pot using the skills you have learned and with her guidance. Lovely atmosphere in the shop as always.
I had a lovely few hours learning to dye with food colouring. Debbie was a really lovely instructor and explained things very clearly. There was a lovely, friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and look forward to trying out other workshops.
This workshop was run by Trudi - what a delightful inspiring person. Full of knowledge - and help.
So encouraging and patient- a thousand thank you’s. You have inspired a new hobby - I couldn’t be more grateful.
The space and people are just a complete delight.
Thank you “Wool on the Exe” I will be back !
I have only made a simple scarf with crochet before attending Verity’s class, and I was a definitely the “bottom of the class kid” during my first course at Wool on the Exe. That said, Verity explained how to make a granny square in the most simple of terms, that I grasped the concept quite confidently. I hope she will be involved in more classes, even if that forces her up from Cornwall! I would 100% attend her classes again. Be confident, you can succeed under her tuition.
Jackie was so helpful , showing me how to pick up stitches along a v neck, helping to decipher the pattern and advising on an alternative method. She also gave me other general tips for my knitting. She is very knowledgeable and I cannot recommend this session enough!
A few years ago I ordered O'Leary and Murhy wool scarves for family for Christmas. They are beautiful. I later Pedersen 2 sweaters for myself. Absolutely love them. Now I'm looking forward to the Christmas gifts. Great craftsmen. Thank you.
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Sam for her brilliant instructions, patience and humour on the learn to crochet sessions over the past 2 weeks.
I have learned a lot and am now excited to join some of the next steps classes. Especially interested in the possible introduction to amigurumi sessions.
Thanks to Jackie for an excellent class today. I've been knitting for years but Jackie gave lots of hints and tips about achieving a more professional finish, especially for picking up extra stitches for bands and collars
