In this workshop, we'll introduce you to the basics of fair isle knitting in the round. Once accomplished, this will will allow you to take on any circular fair isle knitting project!

You will be knitting in the round on a 5.0 mm, 40 cm circular needle to fashion a headband. We will be using Aran yarn from Woolyknit, a 100% British yarn in a wide variety of colours.

To be successful in this workshop, you should confidently know how to cast on, knit and purl.

All pattern and yarn will be supplied however you will need to have a 5.0 mm, 40 cm needle because you won't finish the headband on the day. We do have them available for purchase for £5.78 if you don't already have one.

Challenging course but well worth it!

I took this course at the end of June. Debbie was a fantastic instructor. It was a complicated and challenging project but well worth it in the end. I actually managed to finish the headband by the end of the afternoon! I took it home and blocked it and then wove all the ends in. I was very pleased with the result. I have taken a number of courses at Wool on the Exe. They have all been rewarding and I have grown in confidence with every one of them thanks to such great instruction.

Fair Isle headband

This was a very well led and informative workshop. Terri took us through all the elements of doing colourwork, from choosing colours, reading the pattern, knitting in the round, adding in and changing colours, and weaving strands so the back stayed tidy. She was very patient and happy to demonstrate the techniques as many times as we needed. I'm looking forward to finishing my headband and starting a bigger Fair Isle project. And hopefully taking another workshop with Terri in the future.

Thank you Julie! We're so glad you enjoyed the workshop.
