Join us as we introduce you to one of the most popular ways to knit a jumper! This workshop will walk you through every technique required to knit a jumper from the top (neckline) down and in the round on circular needles. We will be using the Tin Can Knits Flax pattern, and on the day, you will make a 0-6 month size version of this simple modern pullover. We will supply the pattern and the yarn, however you won't completely finish the jumper on the day, so please bring or purchase your own needles to finish at home. (4.0 mm and 5.0 mm 40 cm circular and DPN, or preferred method for small circumference knitting)
You will learn:
- How to cast on and join in the round
- How to place stitch markers to work raglan sleeve shaping
- How to work short rows
- How to divide the sleeves and body
- How to pick up sleeve stitches and knit in the round using your preferred small circumference knitting needles
- How to finish and block your completed garment
Every part of this workshop is transferable to an adult sized garment. If you decide to take the plunge, we are offering attendees a 10% discount on the day if you're inspired to knit one for you!
If you'd like to take a look at the Flax pattern, Tin Can Knits have an easy to use app that can be downloaded for Apple and Android phones. You can read more about it here https://tincanknits.com/app - We will also have the printed pattern available on the day.
This is an advanced beginner workshop. You should be able to confidently cast on and work the knit and purl stitches.
This workshop is led by Gemma Mills. She ran it to great acclaim in her role with The Yarn Dispensary in Faversham so we have every confidence that you're going to love it too!
There will be short breaks in the day with plenty of tea/coffee and cookies, and you're welcome to bring a lunch with you. We can also recommend a variety of local lunch options if you'd like. Please let us know if you have any particular food preferences or allergies.
